The Tent of The Future

We were getting prepped for an overnight trip on a 58 mile stretch of the Manistee River in Michigan and I was looking for ways to save room on gear and time on setup. When you get off the river for the night, you want to get setup, get cooking and be able to relax; a long day on the river is a LONG day!

So I ran to the hardware store and bought some LEDs, a small bucket of safety pins, a cheap tent and some specialty marine fabric glue and got straight to work! Hours later my fingers were sore, my sewing skills were obviously quite low and it didn’t rapidly deploy, but the first Illumitent had come to life.

Our travel companions fell in love with our tent and the dull glow it let off in the distance from the campfire. We never had to turn on bright flashlights to find our tent or look through gear inside and I set out to improve on it from there!
